The Buyer-Ready Program

Prepare your business for sale by making it run without you.

A fixed program for owners selling in the next 6 to 24 months. We audit the business the way a buyer would, then document, automate and hand over the work that still depends on you.

Why

Buyers pay for transferability. Not for your effort.

When a buyer looks at an owner-led business, the first questions are about risk. What happens when the owner leaves? Where is the know-how written down? Who chases the quotes? Who builds the reports? If the honest answer is the owner, that risk gets priced in or the deal gets harder.

  • Quotes and key customer relationships only move when you chase them
  • Processes live in people’s heads, not in documents anyone uses
  • The weekly numbers exist because you build them by hand
  • Software, logins and supplier accounts sit in your personal name
  • One or two staff hold knowledge nobody else has
The three stages

Audit. Build. Managed.

01

Buyer-Ready Audit

From $3,500 + GST. We interview you and your key people, map how work moves through the business, review your systems and score the business across the six Saleability dimensions. You get a written, prioritised plan with a fixed-price quote for the build. Credited in full if you go ahead.

02

Build: 90 to 180 days

We work through the plan, highest value first. Capture owner knowledge, write the SOPs, build the knowledge base, automate the repeat work, connect the systems, build the reporting, move accounts into the business’s name and train the team.

03

Managed through to sale

We keep the automations running, the documentation current and the reporting accurate while you run the business and go to market. Monthly, cancel any time.

What you can measure

We report operational change, not promises about price.

Every engagement starts and ends with the Saleability Score and a short list of hard measures agreed in the audit. The kind of measures we track:

  • Hours a week the owner spends in the day to day
  • Share of critical processes documented and in use
  • Number of processes that only the owner can run
  • Routine tasks running automatically instead of from memory
  • How quickly management numbers are available, and who builds them
  • Time for a new employee to become useful
  • Accounts, software and data owned by the business rather than by a person
We do not promise a sale price or a valuation multiple. Price depends on financial performance, sector, buyer competition and market conditions. We improve the operating things buyers inspect and we show you the before and after.
Timeline

Two versions, depending on how far out you are.

⏱

Selling in 6 to 12 months: the sprint

Documentation, SOPs, the most obvious owner dependencies, account and access cleanup, reporting, and the operational documents a buyer will ask for in due diligence.

📅

Selling in 12 to 24 months: the value build

Everything in the sprint, plus deeper operational redesign, delegation, automation across the business and enough time for the changes to show in how it runs.

Questions

About the program.

What does the Buyer-Ready Audit cost?
From $3,500 + GST depending on the size of the business. If you go ahead with the build, the full audit fee is credited against it. We charge for the audit because it is real work: interviews, process mapping, a systems review and a written plan you keep.
What does the build cost?
It depends on what the audit finds, so we quote it as a fixed price at the end of the audit rather than guessing up front. You will know the price, the scope and the timeline before you commit to anything.
What size business is this for?
Typically ten to fifty staff, owner led, with the owner still involved in most of the important decisions. Smaller businesses can benefit too, but the gap between how dependent the business is on the owner and how a buyer wants it to be is widest in this range.
Do I have to replace my software?
Usually not. We build on what you already run where it works. Replacing working software is expensive and disruptive, and a buyer would rather inherit a stable stack than a new one.
Will my team be involved?
Yes, and that is the point. We interview the people doing the work because they know where the friction is. The documentation and automations are built with them so they actually get used after we leave.
What if I decide not to sell?
Then you own a business that runs better without you, which is worth having either way. Nothing we build depends on a sale happening.

Start with a conversation about where the business depends on you.

Twenty minutes, no cost. We will tell you whether the audit is worth doing for your business, and if it is not, we will say so.
